今日、高校に合格した子が、「iPhoneを買ってもらったー」と喜んでいた。
そのiPhoneも、
みんなが使っている今の形のパソコンも、
この人がいなかったら生まれていなかった。
・・・っていうのが、Steve Jobs （スティーブ・ジョブズ）だ。
iPhone や iPodを生み出した、Apple（アップル）という会社を作った、
世界で最も有名なFounder、創設者。
僕が大学生だったとき、
「これはすごいから見といた方がいい！」 と言われたのが、
ジョブズのスピーチだった。
これ、ほんとうにすごかった。
何度も何度も聴いた。 し、今もたまに聴いてしまう。
中高生、大学生、とにかくみんなこれは必見だと思う。
海外の子と話していても、「Steve Jobs' commencement speech」というだけで、
「ああ、あのスピーチのことね」と、通じる。
たぶん世界で最も有名なスピーチの１つだ。
（commencementっていうのは、学位授与式、まあ卒業式のこと。
スタンフォード大学の式で、ジョブズが話している。）
特に、終盤でジョブスが紹介する「Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish.」という言葉は、
このスピーチの象徴みたいなもので、
一時期、みんなが とりつかれたかのように、これを言っていたのを覚えている・・・・・・。
Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish.
ハングリーであれ、そしてアホでいろ。
現状に満足せずに、常にハングリーに追い求めよ。
そして、気取ってないで、アホでいいから、とことん自分が愛するものを追究せよ。
このメッセージは、初めて聞いたとき、ほんとうにグッときた。

もう、これを読んでいる中高生の子は、こっから下は読まなくていいから、
すぐ見てごらん。 というぐらいだ。
この動画は、英語も日本語も同時に表示してくれるから、英語の勉強にもいい。
スマホとかに保存して、ヒマな時間とかにも聴くのもいいと思う。
スピーチの全文を書き起こしてくれたページも、ちゃんとある（例えばコレ）。
とにかく、絶対に聴いておいたほうがいい。
自分の部屋でも、通学中でもいいから、オススメだ。

上のStay Hungry以外に、特に気に入っている箇所を２つだけ紹介してみる。
和訳は載せません。
本物に触れて、ちょっとぐらい分からなくても本物を味わってほしい。
自分が愛するものに打ち込むべし。
Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.
生きられる時間は限られている。だから他人の人生を生きるな。自分の人生を生きるべし。
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
